EXHIBITION DESIGN AT LENBACHHAUS, MUNICH 2017
We envision architecture as a background for life— an efficient, sometimes invisible infrastructure that supports and elevates the human experience. We search for intersections between individual and collective spheres, positioning design as a practice of citizenship that respects public space and communal history.
Our practice favors lightness and simplicity. We prioritize the expression and integrity of natural systems and materials, embracing technology to support endurance and lifelong efficiency at all scales.
Atelier has served a diverse range of public and institutional clients including UNESCO and the City of Rio de Janeiro. Our cultural and exhibition work has been commissioned by the Bardi Institute, Museu da Casa Brasileira, Centro Cultural São Paulo, Lenbachhaus Museum, and the TUM Architecture Museum at the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich. In the non-profit and community sectors, we have worked with EDUCAP (Democratic Space for Union, Conviviality, Learning and Prevention) at Complexo do Alemão, the NPD Archives (Nucleus of Research and Documentation), and Casa do Músico. Our commercial and private portfolio includes the GS408 tower, Element Natural Healing Arts Clinic, Atelier Gloria, and numerous private residences across New York and Brazil.
History
Our portfolio started in 2007 with small-scale residential and commercial projects in New York City. The commission to design a commercial tower in São Paulo and the centennial exhibition of Lina Bo Bardi in Munich in 2013 were important milestones. Since then, we engaged with a variety of scales and clients in Brazil, the United States, Europe, and Australia. In 2019, the firm was renamed Atelier of Architecture and Urban Design, marking the beginning of a partnership in Rio de Janeiro with principal Fabiana Araújo, which continued through 2025. We have collaborated with a network of international practices on key projects, including the renovation of the National Museum in Rio de Janeiro and the Francisca Keller Library. Atelier's culture has been shaped by active academic exchanges. We believe that the creative freedom of academic studios enhances our vision of professional practice, keeping it fresh, updated and inspired.
