Waterfall House
Itanhangá, Rio de Janeiro
Concept Design
2017 – 2018
The project for a single-family residence in Itanhangá was designed so as to privilege the contact of the interior spaces with the expansive view of the site. The elongated horizontal proportion also responds to the intense slope of the site, in order to minimize excavations and swings. The continuity of the natural terrain by the flat geometry of the green cover proposes to erase the meeting of the building with the ground in the upper level and creates, at the intermediary level, an oblique patio. The main space (of being and arriving) at the intermediary level contemplates on one side the expansive view of Barra da Tijuca and on the other the nature of the topography that rises and the existing vegetation.
