New Housing Development in Cleveland​

Located along Battery Park Boulevard, the project involved a series of viability studies based on maximum density and building efficiency for a replicable residential typology. The design draws from the neighborhood's existing fabric and adjacencies, creating volumes that respond to local traditional housing types while remaining economical, attractive for development, and easily reproducible as a system. The scheme explores courtyard configurations that overlap with open green areas and alleys to naturalize functional spaces like parking, animating these zones through planting and permeable paving. It also focuses on optimizing egress paths while amplifying their social potential by expanding corridors to create urban balconies. Individual building blocks are elevated above ground level on concrete piers to accommodate covered parking and drive lanes, supporting upper-floor residential volumes linked by elevated exterior bridges. From the concept stage, the project integrates technologies for water reuse and energy efficiency while optimizing mechanical infrastructure for each unit.
