Solar House expands an existing house characterized by an irregular facade with multiple frontal alignments. The project adds a new facade that unifies the elevation through a rhythm of varying material transparencies and textures. A continuous line of solar panels integrated into the design of the roof improves the home’s energy performance and path toward self-sufficiency, while simultaneously concealing the fragmented original structure and establishing a cohesive, contemporary identity.
