The Rocker
Marina Correia with Bill Neburka (EAO), 2025.
This rocking chair prototype combines CNC-milled plywood side profiles with a hand-woven seating surface. Designed for flat-pack production and lightweight transport, the frame consists of two continuous side profiles that define the headrest, seat, and rocker base.
Natural fiber rope is threaded through CNC-drilled anchor points along the timber frame to form the backrest and seat plane. The assembly system accommodates different rope materials and colors, allowing for user customization. The weaving method provides a tensioned seating surface integrated directly into the digitally fabricated structural frame.
