Located in the comunidade do Batan in Realengo, Rio de Janeiro—an area severely affected by urban violence—the design focuses on reorganizing an existing public square that serves as a local entertainment node, despite ongoing safety challenges and site degradation. The design improves existing urban routes and leisure spaces, adding a new open performance arena and viewing deck. Embedded within the natural topography and site vegetation, the structure is designed to shield and enhance the public square, which currently suffers from illegal dumping.

The JP Move Dance Company project originated as a collaborative proposal developed by students from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Alexsander L. Moraes, Elisabeth G. de Oliveira, Giovanna M. Amorim, and Luccas P. do Nascimento), the JP Move dance collective, and Marina Correia.

Founded in 2007, JP Move (Grupo Jovens de Periferia) is an urban dance collective and cultural group dedicated to peripheral arts education and performance in Rio's favelas, specializing in urban dance styles such as Passinho, Funk, and Hip-Hop.

The proposal was halted in 2021 due to escalating violence in the surrounding area following the pandemic, which forced a shift in the school’s physical presence within the community.
